HCS Membership Benefits

Membership in The Histochemical Society includes the following:

  • A gratis online (web access) subscription to the Journal of Histochemistry & Cytochemistry. (A print subscription may be added for an additional $50 US, which includes USPS Periodical shipping or IMIX Overseas shiping. International Airmail shipping is available at an additional charge of $110.00 US.)
  • Reduced registration fee at the Society's annual meeting
  • The opportunity to present papers, exchange ideas and network with world-leading histochemists and cytochemists
  • Automatic membership in the International Federation of Societies for Histochemistry and Cytochemistry
  • Eligibility for HCS-sponsored awards, such as travel awards and the Glick Lectureship

Categories of Membership

    Regular Membership: Regular Membership is restricted to individuals possessing the doctoral degree or its equivalent in training or experience. Candidates for Regular Membership must have published at least one scientific paper as first author, or been a co-author on three or more scientific papers in fields comprising the stated purpose of the Society. Regular Members shall have the right to vote and to hold office.

    Associate Membership: Associate Membership is restricted to postdoctoral students and those employed in technical positions related to histochemistry. Associate Members have the right to vote, but not to hold office.

    Student Membership: Student Membership is restricted to pre-doctoral students. A discount is applied to the Member rate. Students cannot vote or hold office. Student status must be certified by an academic adviser.
