TRAVEL AWARDS FOR RESEARCH SCIENTISTS

Up to five (5) of these awards of $1000 are designated for scientists who are early in their careers (academic, industrial, or government scientists) to support attendance (registration, lodging, and/or travel) for The Histochemical Society's Annual Meeting. Scientists who utilize molecular imaging techniques for cells and tissues in their research are encouraged to apply. Scientists who have begun to work in fields relevant to the mission of The Histochemical Society may also apply. Submission of an abstract for presentation at the annual meeting (poster or platform) is required. Membership in The Histochemical Society is encouraged but not required to apply for the award; recipients will be provided with one year complementary membership and will be encouraged to participate in HCS Committees.

HCS OUTSTANDING YOUNG INVESTIGATOR AWARD

The Society solicits nominations for this award to be presented at an annual meeting. A cash award in the amount of $1,000 will be given to a junior investigator (e.g. instructor, assistant professor, or early in associate professor rank) who is a member of the Society and demonstrates exceptional potential as a histochemist. The Awardee will submit an abstract for a poster and give an oral presentation highlighting his/her contributions involving histochemistry at the HCS Business Meeting. This award may not be presented annually, but rather when the Awards Committee and Council determine that a meritorious recipient has been identified.

FASEB MARC AWARDS

FASEB's Office of MARC and Professional Development Programs is offering travel awards for underrepresented minority graduate students, postdoctorates, junior faculty (assistant professors within 1 year of appointment), and undergraduate students with higher-level chemistry and biology coursework to support participation in the Immunohistochemistry & Microscopy Short Course. Participation in this 4-day course is limited. The $1850 award must apply to related travel expenses (air/ground transportation) and course registration for applicants who are approved to participate in the short course and receive approval for the travel award. Participation in the HCS meeting preceding the course is encouraged if within the $1850. Please see this page for deadlines, eligibility, and information on how to apply. The application deadline for MARC Travel Awards is February 19th, 2010. DO NOT use the HCS Awards form to apply for MARC Awards! Use the forms and information on the MARC Travel Awards page.
